Speeko alternatives: 6 public speaking apps compared (2026)
The closest Speeko alternative is Orai, which scores filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness on iPhone, Android and the web. Yoodli is better for roleplaying specific work conversations, Vocal Image covers personal conversations too, and PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free for slide decks. If you want to train the sound of your voice rather than your delivery, Astound and Voceris focus on that.

What Speeko does well, and why people switch
Speeko is an all-round AI speech coach: it measures your delivery, recommends lessons and lets you roleplay real conversations, on iOS, macOS, Android and the web. It is a good default for individuals. People switch when they want a simpler tool, roleplays built for work, a free option, or training for the sound of their voice.
Speeko analyzes your pace, filler words, intonation (pitch variety), sentiment, talk time and word choice, flagging hedges and redundant phrases. Around that it offers bite-sized lessons, courses, digital notecards, interview prompts, vocal warm-ups, "Convos" AI roleplays for interviews, difficult conversations and small talk, and content from voice coach Roger Love. It is free to download with some free exercises; more lessons and practice need Speeko Pro, a monthly or annual subscription.
Typical reasons to look elsewhere:
- You want less, not more. Record, see a score, try again, without a course structure.
- You rehearse specific work conversations, such as sales calls or interviews, and want them scored against criteria for that scenario.
- You want free practice, at least for one presentation.
- You want a human coach's method, not only metrics. Some people learn faster from a coach demonstrating technique on video than from a dashboard.
- Your delivery is fine, but your voice isn't. Pace and fillers look good, yet you still sound thin, flat, quiet or tired.
Quick comparison
The alternatives below differ mainly in what they listen for: rehearsed talks, conversations, or the voice itself. All of them offer some way to try before paying, shown in the last column.

One thing the table doesn't show: apart from Speaker Coach, every app here, Speeko included, keeps full access behind a paid plan. Use the free tier, free tests or trial to run the self-check further down before you pay, and cancel any trial you don't use within the first few days.
1. Orai: the closest match, with a simpler scorecard
Best for: rehearsing a talk, pitch or interview answer and seeing one clear score card.
Orai records you reading a script or speaking freely, then scores filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness, with coaching tips, a transcript and playback. Short lessons and scenarios (a pitch, a toast, a tough question) keep sessions brief, trends track your progress, and you can share a recording with a colleague or coach. It runs on iOS, Android and the web.
Compared with Speeko: fewer extras and no AI conversation partner, which is exactly why some people prefer it. More options are in Orai alternatives.
2. Yoodli: roleplays scored for your scenario
Best for: professionals rehearsing a sales call, interview or presentation, and teams.
Yoodli is a browser-based AI roleplay platform. You pick or build a scenario, the AI plays the other side, and the session is scored against criteria for that scenario, alongside feedback on pacing, clarity, filler words, conciseness and structure. Its FAQ says it works with any video conferencing platform. At the time of writing, the free Starter plan includes 5 lifetime roleplays, Pro is $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month, both billed annually. We cover its rivals in Yoodli alternatives.
3. Vocal Image: conversations at work and at home
Best for: rehearsing hard conversations of every kind, with voice drills on the side.
Vocal Image builds a short daily plan mixing AI roleplay, voice analysis, warm-ups, breathing and tongue twisters scored for clarity and speed. Roleplays cover asking for a raise, setting boundaries, small talk and parenting talks, and afterwards show where filler words crept in and better ways to say things. It also has American and British accent courses and "Voice Arena", where other users rate your recordings. It runs on iOS, Android and the web; see Vocal Image alternatives.
4. Astound: voice lessons from a coach
Best for: people who want to be taught breathing and voice technique by a human coach on video.
Astound is an iPhone app with more than 100 short video lessons taught by Leila Bostic, whom the developer describes as a voice coach and speech therapist with 15 years of experience. It has a 30-day challenge, practice packs for interviews, presentations and podcasts, guided breathing and recordings with feedback on tempo, pitch and volume. It deliberately spends less time on filler words and more on how your voice feels to listeners. It is free to download with core lessons; at the time of writing, its App Store listing shows US pricing of $12.99 a month or $79.99 a year for full access.
5. Voceris: measured voice quality and a 5-minute plan
Best for: people who want numbers for how their voice sounds, and a short daily routine to move them.
Voceris scores the voice itself. You read a short prompt aloud for 15 to 35 seconds and get scores from 0 to 100 for depth, resonance, clarity, stability, pace, pauses, filler words, vocal fry and volume, a tier from D to A+ and a written verdict on what to fix first. It then builds a 30- to 180-day plan of about five minutes a day from a 65-exercise library, scoring every rep with a coach's note.
Compared with Speeko: no courses, roleplays or analysis of what you say, but direct scores for voice qualities that delivery apps don't measure. English only, on iPhone, Android and in the browser. The first score is free; the plan and drills need Voceris Pro.
6. PowerPoint Speaker Coach: free, for slide decks
Best for: one presentation and no budget.
Speaker Coach runs inside PowerPoint and, while you rehearse, evaluates pacing and pitch, flags filler words, informal language and culturally sensitive terms, and notices when you read your slides word for word. You get a rehearsal report at the end. Microsoft lists it as a free preview that doesn't need an Office subscription; it currently understands English only.
Delivery or voice? A two-minute self-check
Before switching apps, find out which problem you actually have. Two free browser tools on this site answer it in about two minutes, with no sign-up and no audio leaving your device:
- Speak freely for 30 seconds on the speaking rate test (1 minute). It shows your words per minute, pauses and filler-word count.
- Read a paragraph on the voice pitch test (1 minute). It shows your average pitch and pitch range.
- Read the results. A fast pace, few pauses or many fillers point to delivery: Orai, Yoodli or Speeko will help, and so will our public speaking tips. A narrow pitch range or a voice that sounds weak even at a good pace points to voice training: Astound or Voceris.
Which should you choose?
Choose by the habit you want to change, not by the number of features:
- "I want Speeko without the extras." Orai.
- "I need to rehearse specific work conversations, maybe with my team." Yoodli.
- "I want to practise personal conversations too." Vocal Image.
- "I want a coach to teach me breathing and voice technique." Astound.
- "I want scores for how my voice sounds and a 5-minute plan." Voceris.
- "I have one deck and no budget." PowerPoint Speaker Coach.

Questions
What is the best alternative to Speeko?
Orai is the closest alternative: it also records you, scores your delivery and suggests short lessons, with a simpler scorecard. Yoodli is better if you want to roleplay a specific work conversation, and Astound or Voceris are better if you want to change how your voice sounds.
Is there a free alternative to Speeko?
PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free and Microsoft says it does not need an Office subscription, though it only works while rehearsing slides. Yoodli's Starter plan includes 5 lifetime roleplay sessions, and the free speaking rate test on trainmyvoice.app measures your pace, pauses and filler words in the browser. Speeko itself is free to download with some free exercises.
Speeko vs Orai: which is better?
Speeko is broader, with courses, AI roleplay conversations, vocal warm-ups and content from voice coach Roger Love. Orai is more focused: rehearse a talk, get a scorecard for filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness, then try again. Pick Speeko for a guided program and Orai for quick rehearsals.
Is Speeko available on Android?
Yes. Speeko's website lists iOS, macOS, Android and the web, and the app has a Google Play listing. Orai and Vocal Image also run on iOS, Android and the web.
Which app helps with the sound of my voice rather than my delivery?
Look for an app that works on the voice itself. Astound teaches breathing and voice exercises through video lessons and gives feedback on tempo, pitch and volume, while Voceris scores nine qualities such as depth, resonance, stability and vocal fry and builds a 5-minute daily plan.
