Yoodli alternatives: 6 AI speech coaches compared (2026)
The closest Yoodli alternative for individuals is Speeko, which pairs delivery feedback with AI roleplay conversations in a phone app. Orai is a simpler rehearsal scorecard on iPhone, Android and the web, PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free for slide decks, and VirtualSpeech suits companies and universities. If your delivery is fine but your voice sounds flat or weak, a voice-quality app such as Voceris fits better.

What Yoodli does well, and why people look elsewhere
Yoodli is an AI roleplay platform: you rehearse a realistic conversation, such as a sales call, an interview or a presentation, and the session is scored against criteria for that scenario. It is strongest for work conversations and for teams. People look elsewhere when they want a phone app, solo talk rehearsal, or help with the sound of their voice.
Yoodli started as a public speaking coach for individuals and has grown into a platform for sales, onboarding and learning teams. For public speaking, it gives feedback on pacing, clarity, filler words, conciseness, structure and tone. It runs in the browser, works alongside video-call tools such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and has team features like custom rubrics, dashboards and single sign-on.
The usual reasons to switch:
- You want to practise on your phone. Yoodli is a web app; we did not find a native app for it in the App Store or Google Play at the time of writing.
- You want more free practice. The free Starter plan includes 5 lifetime roleplay sessions.
- You rehearse talks, not conversations. If you mostly give presentations, a simple rehearsal scorecard may be all you need.
- Your company needs a different training platform, for example with a reactive virtual audience or VR.
- Your delivery is fine, but your voice isn't. You pace well and rarely say "um", yet you still sound flat, thin or tired. Roleplay scores rarely show that.
Quick comparison
The main difference between these apps is what they listen for: a conversation (Yoodli, Speeko, Vocal Image, VirtualSpeech), a rehearsed talk (Orai, Speaker Coach) or the sound of your voice (Voceris). Platform and free access narrow it further.

1. Speeko: the closest match for individuals
Best for: people who want Yoodli-style conversation practice plus delivery feedback, in an app they can open on the train.
Speeko is an AI speech coach that measures your pace, filler words, intonation (pitch variety), sentiment, talk time and word choice, including hedging and redundant phrases. Its "Convos" feature is an AI roleplay for job interviews, difficult conversations and small talk, and it adds bite-sized lessons, courses, vocal warm-ups and content from voice coach Roger Love. It runs on iOS, macOS, Android and the web.
Good to know: the app is free to download with some free exercises; more lessons and practice need Speeko Pro, a monthly or annual subscription. It is built for individuals, so it has none of Yoodli's team dashboards or custom rubrics. If you are also weighing Speeko, see Speeko alternatives.
2. Orai: quick rehearsals with a clear scorecard
Best for: rehearsing a talk, pitch or interview answer in a few minutes and seeing one score card.
Orai records you reading a script or speaking freely, then scores filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness, with coaching tips, a transcript and playback. It has short lessons and scenarios such as a pitch, a toast or a tough question, tracks trends across sessions, and lets you share recordings with a colleague or coach. It runs on iOS, Android and the web.
Good to know: there is no live AI conversation partner, so it is a rehearsal tool, not a roleplay tool. We compare it with similar apps in Orai alternatives.
3. PowerPoint Speaker Coach: free, for slide decks
Best for: one presentation, no budget.
Speaker Coach is built into PowerPoint. While you rehearse, it evaluates your pacing and pitch, flags filler words, informal language and culturally sensitive terms, and notices when you are wordy or reading your slides word for word, then gives you a rehearsal report. Microsoft lists it as a free preview available without an Office subscription, on PowerPoint for the web, Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android tablets.
Good to know: it only works inside a slide show, and it currently understands English only.
4. Voceris: when the problem is how your voice sounds
Best for: people whose delivery is fine but whose voice sounds flat, thin, nasal, creaky or tired.
Voceris scores the sound of your speaking voice rather than a conversation. You read a short prompt aloud for 15 to 35 seconds and get scores from 0 to 100 for depth, resonance, clarity, stability, pace, pauses, filler words, vocal fry and volume, an overall tier from D to A+, and a written verdict on what to fix first. It then builds a 30- to 180-day plan of about five minutes a day from a 65-exercise library, and every rep is recorded and scored with a coach's note.
Compared with Yoodli: no roleplays, no team features and no feedback on the content of what you say. It runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser, in English only. The first score is free; the full breakdown, plan and drills need Voceris Pro.
5. Vocal Image: roleplays for life outside work
Best for: rehearsing hard conversations at work and at home, alongside voice exercises.
Vocal Image builds a short daily plan that mixes AI roleplay, voice analysis, vocal warm-ups, breathing exercises and tongue twisters scored for clarity and speed. Its roleplay scenarios go beyond work: asking for a raise, setting boundaries with family, small talk, a difficult talk with a teenager. After each roleplay it shows what worked, where filler words crept in and better ways to phrase things. It also has American and British accent courses and "Voice Arena", where other users rate your recordings. It runs on iOS, Android and the web. See Vocal Image alternatives for a closer look.
6. VirtualSpeech: for companies and universities
Best for: learning and development teams that want an alternative training platform.
VirtualSpeech is an AI practice platform for workplace conversations and presentations. Learners roleplay with AI characters, present their own slides to a reactive virtual audience, and get each session scored against named criteria. It runs in the browser, with VR headsets as an option, and is sold to companies, universities and healthcare education providers, typically after a pilot. It is not aimed at individuals buying for themselves.
What about Poised?
Poised was a Mac and Windows app that gave private, real-time feedback during video calls, on things like filler words, hedging and how much of the meeting you spoke. Its website now says the service shut down on October 8, 2026. If you relied on it, Yoodli is the closest option for feedback around real calls, and Speaker Coach covers live cues during slide rehearsals.
How to test an alternative in one week
Most of these apps offer a free tier, free download or trial, so test one for a week before you pay. Use the same short answer on day 1 and day 7, and change only one habit in between:
- Day 1, 5 minutes: record a baseline. Give the same 60-second answer ("Tell me about yourself" works) in the new app and note every score.
- Day 1, 2 minutes: measure pace and fillers independently. Run the free speaking rate test so you have a number the app didn't produce.
- Days 2 to 6, 5 to 10 minutes a day: practise one weakness. Pick the single lowest score and work only on that. Our public speaking tips have drills for pace, pauses and openings.
- Day 7, 5 minutes: re-record the same answer. Compare against day 1. If nothing moved, or you skipped three days, the app doesn't fit your routine.
Which should you choose?
Pick the alternative that matches the situation you are practising for, not the one with the longest feature list. If you are unsure whether your problem is delivery or voice, run the one-week test above first.
- "I want Yoodli-style practice, but on my phone." Speeko.
- "I just want to rehearse a talk and see a score." Orai.
- "I have one deck to present and no budget." PowerPoint Speaker Coach.
- "My voice sounds weak or flat even when my content is good." Voceris, and read how to sound more confident when speaking.
- "I want to rehearse personal conversations too." Vocal Image.
- "I'm choosing a platform for a whole team." Stay with Yoodli or trial VirtualSpeech.

Questions
What is the best free alternative to Yoodli?
PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free and Microsoft says it does not need an Office subscription, but it only works while you rehearse a slide deck. For a quick check of your pace, pauses and filler words, the free speaking rate test on trainmyvoice.app runs in the browser with no sign-up. Yoodli's own Starter plan is also free, with 5 lifetime roleplay sessions at the time of writing.
Is Yoodli free?
Yoodli has a free Starter plan with 5 lifetime roleplay sessions, where a roleplay is any practice session longer than 30 seconds. At the time of writing, its pricing page lists Pro at $8 a month and Advanced at $20 a month, both billed annually, plus per-seat Business and Enterprise plans.
Is there a Yoodli app for iPhone?
Yoodli runs in the web browser at app.yoodli.ai, and at the time of writing we did not find a Yoodli app in the App Store or Google Play. If you want to practise on your phone, Speeko, Orai, Vocal Image and Voceris all have iPhone apps.
Yoodli vs Orai: which is better?
Yoodli is better for rehearsing a specific conversation, such as a sales call or an interview, because each roleplay is scored against criteria for that scenario. Orai is better for quick solo rehearsals on a phone, with a scorecard for filler words, pace, clarity, energy, confidence and conciseness.
What happened to Poised?
Poised, a desktop app that gave live feedback during video calls, says on its website that it shut down on October 8, 2026. Yoodli is the closest option for feedback around real calls, since its FAQ says it works with any video conferencing platform, including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex.
